Foundation Reaches $20,000 Goal

The Community Foundation of the Ozarks (CFO) has announced that the Community Foundation of Taney County has raised $20,000 in unrestricted grantmaking funds and will receive a match of $10,000 from CFO’s Kirby Taylor Challenge.

Last year, CFO received an unrestricted bequest from the estate of Kirby Taylor. The board of directors decided to create the Kirby Taylor Challenge to assist affiliate foundations in raising unrestricted funds for their community grantmaking programs. The Challenge offers $10,000 to any regional affiliate community foundation who can raise $20,000 in unrestricted dollars by April 1, 2005.

Often the most difficult to raise, unrestricted donations empower the Community Foudnation of Taney County Board of Directors to make grants that address the community’s most important needs as they arise. Quality of life for future generations can be provided through current donors’ wise realization that needs will emerge that could not have been anticipated.

The Community Foundation of Taney County is one of 31 independent community foundations affiliated with the Community Foundation of the Ozarks. CFO is a public foundation whose mission is to improve the quality of life through endowment building and asset development, community-based grantmaking, organizational collaboration and public leadership. CFO currently manages 750 chartable funds totaling approximately $78 million and has distributed more than $4.7 million in grants and distributions over the past year.
