College of the Ozarks Disaster Response Team Receives Grant

On September 30, 2013, College of the Ozarks Disaster and Incident Response Team (DIRT) received a grant from the Community Foundation of Taney County.

The DIRT team is comprised of College of the Ozarks students, faculty and staff trained to respond at a moment’s notice to help communities when a natural or man-made disaster strikes. The DIRT team was one of the first volunteer groups to respond to the February 29, Leap Day tornado that hit Branson.

According to the mission statement of the Community Foundation of Taney County, its goal is to “promote the quality of life, educate the community and build a financial base for the sole purpose of helping the people in our community to grow and prosper. The income from the funds invested through the foundation are returned to the community to enhance the quality of life for current and future generations.”

The DIRT team is grateful for the grant, which will aid in the purchase of equipment and supply training for its new and current members.
