Branson Area Tornado Relief & Recovery Fund Awards Donation from NAIA

The Community Foundation of Taney County has awarded $3,084.65 donated to the foundation during the recent National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Basketball Championships to two agencies: Christian Associates in Kimberling City and Christian Action Ministries in Branson. The grants are the first to be made as part of the Branson Area Tornado Relief and Recovery Fund, which was established following the tornadoes of Feb. 29.

The NAIA championships were held March 7-13 in Point Lookout, just south of Branson. Collection centers were set up for attendees to the tournament to donate to the Branson Area Tornado Relief and Recovery Fund, with one donor winning round-trip airfare vouchers, donated by Branson Airport. The effort raised $3,084.65, which was split between the two organizations at the request of the NAIA, which sought to help Christian-affiliated organizations in both Taney and Stone counties with tornado-related needs.

“The generosity of the NAIA and these donors, as well as the support of Branson Airport, means a lot to the citizens of Taney and Stone counties,” said Community Foundation of Taney County President Doug Jordan. “This contribution will help two vital agencies meet an increased area-wide need since the storms.”
